Doors open at 6pm Friday the 22nd. Event Tickets are available at the door. No re-entry without event ticket!
Attendees under 18 years of age must bring in a MidLans Disclaimer signed by a parent or a guardian. Download it HERE! Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Alcohol - Spirits or any other strong alcoholic drinks are not allowed at the event. No drinking under 18 years of age will be accepted! Drinking only permitted within reasonable limits, so please don't make us ban drinking from future Lans as this is mostly dependent on the Venue.
Competition Sign-ups for all FPS's will close at 12am (lunch time) on Saturday the 23rd! You must sign up on the MidLans intranet website at the event. All FPS competitions are commencing once the sign up are closed.
For all Team-based competitions: Each team entering must have a leader, which has to make sure that their team players are in the correct server as quickly as possible, after being called out for match. Should a team not be in the right server 15 minutes after the match started, the late team automatically forfeits, unless it is willing to play without the missing player/s. Competition admins will have the final decision on this.
Catering - Hot food, chilled drinks and a shop offering sweets, crisps, sandwiches etc will be available at the event.
Acommodation - You can bring a sleeping bag (ideally a couchin and an underlay as well) and stay at the lan venue or book a B&B or Hotel. Contact list HERE. Anyone that wants to take a chance with the weather and bring a tent for camping out the back of the venue, can do so. Just ask any admin at the event where the camping area is located.
Tables - The table height will be 84cm and the dimension for each attendee space are 80cm x 60cm. Any extra space on and around desks may be used by attendees, as long as it is available and not used by other attendees. Bring a couchin for your seat, it will make it easier to stay comfortable sitting for whole weekend.
Pro Evolution Soccer tournaments will start on Friday at 9pm. The DOD:S and COH:OF Tournaments have been canceled due to lack of interest in the community and no available admin to host either competition.
Steam - Make sure to fully update Steam and set it to offline mode (requires auto remember password) the day before the event. Yes, a limited internet connection will be available at the event only available for any steam issues and user accounts.
Virus Scan - The day before the Lan, run a full virus/trojan scan using up-to-date anti virus software such as avast or avg. Take a screenshot of the results page with date of scan and save it to your desktop, for your proof that you ran a scan and in case our admins have to check on it.
Train/Bus - For anyone that is going to use public transport to/from the Lan, we are running a free shuttle service from and to the nearest Train Station and Bus Station in Edgeworthstown Co. Longford. Click HERE to post your shuttle booking. Limited availability, so make sure to book in advance.

MidLans Summer 2008 - 4 7H3 1R15H 1337!
We have announced our summer event! Once again a lot of planning has gone into it, in particular in the areas of competitive and casual gaming. With a total of 11 PC based Tournaments and 2 other Competitions, there will be more variety than ever at our Lan parties. Last summer over 300 gamers signed up, this year it may get booked out. The earlier everyone signs up, the better we can judge the numbers and plan ahead for the event, as well as sponsored prizes will improve.
After considerations of passed experience such as low usage, we have decided against a pre-pay facility, but instead the first 100 people on the bookings list will get a 10% discount and an extra bonus at the event doors. Click here for more details.
Perhaps we can set a new Irish byopc record this summer ;]
It's almost time for another Lan party. For those of you who like the competitive element in Lans, there will be several gaming tournaments in FPS and RTS. However, for the more casual gamer, Gamecon has plenty to offer.
When? <- May 2nd - 4th, 2008, Starts 9pm
Where? <- The Lucan Spa Hotel, Dublin

Welcome to MidLans Gaming Community!
For those of you that have never been to our site before, i'm quickly going to explain what we do, who we are and how it all started.
In 2001 MidLans started off as a small group of pc gaming and computer enthusiasts, most of which based in the midlands. In the beginning with small private house lan parties, as these events picked up in numbers we started renting larger venues. From this point on we purchased various networking gear, electrical equipment and servers to add on to our collection, primarily to be able to accommodate more attendees and provide better quality gaming. Over the last 6 year, MidLans has hosted more than 40 Lan parties.
MidLans has been hosting bi-monthly LAN parties in Athlone since 2002. Our usual bi-monthly event consists of around 25-40 gamers and are usually held in efusion internet/gaming cafe. The majority of our local attendees use these smaller lans to practice their favorite games for the more competitive tournaments held at our much bigger yearly events. Several IT based manufactures and retailers are sponsoring these competitions with prizes, generally products each individual company trades with or produces. These can include PC hardware and accessories, electronic's or merchandise.
We have the equipment and experience to handle hundreds of lan attendees, if you are looking for assistance in holding a Lan Party in Ireland, simply contact us, we'll be glad to help.

What is a Lan Party?
A LAN party is a temporary, sometimes spontaneous, gathering of people together with their computers, which they network together primarily for the purpose of playing multiplayer computer games. These local area networks (LANs) come in various sizes, from very small (two people) to very large (more than 7,500 people). Small parties can form spontaneously, but large ones usually require a fair amount of planning and preparation on the part of the organizer.
MidLans October 2006
LAN party events differ significantly from gaming centers and Internet cafes in that they are generally bring your own computer (BYOC) and are not permanent installations, often taking place in general meeting places or residences.
LAN party attendees tend to be more experienced gamers, as the setup required turns most casual gamers away. People who prefer LAN party gaming to Internet or other multiplayer gaming types favor the term "LANner".
